Learn About The Profitable Domain
Name Business
Contrary to popular belief, it's never to
late to get into the domain name business. Yes, of course it
would have been nice to register premium one word domains cush
as Cars.com or Homes.com back in the early years, but you can
still profit from great keywords domains
today.
If you are new to the business, it's a great
idea to look at some recent sales of particular areas you may
be interested in getting into (real estate, law, travel, etc)
You can get an idea at DnJournal.com (check the recent
sales)
The key to the domain name business (like
most businesses) is to buy low and sell high. There are two
ways generally, to turn a profit
1. Buy domains at a very low price or
registration fee
You can either register a fresh domain name
(usually $8-10, depending on which registrar or you can buy
them on aftermarket marketplace such as
ebay.)
When buying at a low cost or registering
domains, you can do aim for a small profit (usually a few
dollars per domain) and try to sell at larger volumes to make
consistent profit. Research is the key. Find out recent sales
and make sure you have quality, comparable domains to sell.
Also, generally, the longer you hold onto a domain, the more
valueable it becomes. A name that you buy today for 20-40 can
be work 100-200 in as little as one year.
2. End User
Sales
This is where the real money is at. What you
want to do is get a decent or really good keyword domains
(preferably one that many advertisers are paying for on google,
such as "new home sales", "real estate listings", etc. Then,
you will make a list of advertisers paying for the certain term
in your domain name. Make a nice list, and contact each company
individually (you can do it by email (be sure not to spam) or
by phone. Remember, this is all a number game. If you contact
100 people and this results in a sale of a few thousand
dollars, then it is a great
profit.
